WHY
DO YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE ON A STUDENTS ON ICE EXPIDITION?
I want to join Students On Ice because I am
once a curious little boy. I always surf the internet to answer the questions
that pops out in my mind. One day, I read an article about Artic and how global
warming affects the Artic. Then, I decided to go further and deeper about the Artic.
It changed my life perspective. My point of view towards the world has simply
changed in an instance.
But I know, as a human we can find a
solution to this problem because humans are researchers, inventors, innovators,
engineers and architect. We can make the impossible become possible. We find
every solution for every problem. For ages, we solve the biggest problems that
ever pop in a man’s mind. Currently, global warming is the biggest issue the
world is facing.
I decided to give a shot on Students On Ice
because I want to be a part of building a better future for our future
generation. It always had been a long-life dream to repay what mankind has done
bad to the world especially the Artic. I see Students On Ice as a golden opportunity
to achieve what I always dreamed to achieve that is to build a better future
for our future generation.
WHAT DOES THE ARTIC REPRESENTS TO YOU?
In
my honest opinion, Artic represents the word “greed”. When I first thought of
Artic, it shows how greed mankind can be. We make the mother nature pay for our
doings. Currently, nature could not afford to pay for our doings anymore.
Humans hail money as their everything. Artic does symbolizes how humans greed
affect the world currently.
Artic also symbolizes the word “unity”. It is obvious to see people from
all around the world unites to curb global warming. Worldwide federation such
as World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is created and joined by countries all over the
world. This issue is also been discussed by the United Nations (UN) for years.
This shows how people from all around the world unite to solve the global
warming issue especially in the Artic region.
Lastly, Artic represents beauty. It shows how beautiful is god’s
creation in a land of ice. There we can find beautiful areas with extraordinary
creature to be seen. The natural phenomenon that happens there is also
beautiful such as the Aurora Borealis. It shows how beautiful the world can
be.

1.WHY
DO YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE ON A STUDENTS ON ICE EXPEDITION?
SOI is an award winning educational expeditions to the polar
regions that had taken over 2500 students and staffs on its expedition. SOI has
the mandate to educate the worlds youth about the importance of the polar
regions. It is very interesting and I could obtain lots of benefits from it. I
want to take part in this expedition because I want to explore the polar
regions and learn various type of skills and knowledge there. I will seek for
the chance to receive new input from the SOI team and try my best to apply them
in Malaysia. I'm very eager to improve the quality of Malaysian life with the
information that I get during the expedition. In addition, I also can make lots
of new friends from all around this world. Last but not least, I can also join
the community to protect the polar regions from nowadays threat such as oil
drilling and global warming.
2.WHAT DOES THE ARCTIC REPRESENT TO YOU
Arctic is one of the polar region that is
situated at the north hemisphere part of our earth. In addition, Arctic is a
like a fantasy as it experience six month of daylight and another six month of
moonlight. It has an eye-catching surrounding that can dazzle each eyes that
have been there. There is various type of spectacular species there making the
Arctic is a place that is rich with biodiversity. Mostly of its surface is
covered by ice because the temperature there is lower than the freezing point.
However, that was in the past time. Now,
the beauty of Arctic is slowly worsen day by day. This is as a result of the
humans’ greed that creates such a serious damage to it. Drilling oil in a large
scale, increased exploitation, climate change and long-range pollution affects
the Arctic so much. Hence, it is my great pleasure to join the expedition and
learn more about the Arctic in order to preserve and conserve its beauty for
the sake of future generations.
